Pocas horas despues de ser expulsado de la competición, Stevens publicó:
"I just got thrown out of the Competition in Abu Dhabi. Sorry to all of you who were hoping to see me vs the Russian. I had a little disagreement with some of the people in charge so they saw fit to disqualify me for my behavior after my quarter final match. I will not let this detour me from doing well in Japan. I am just going to have to make sure that I beat everyone decisively. No more close calls."
